Conley Wake Zani

Conley Wake Zani is a community builder, nonprofit leader, and executive coach whose work is guided by a simple belief: people and communities thrive when everyone feels they belong.

For nearly two decades, Conley has dedicated her time and energy to strengthening Portsmouth and Aquidneck Island through volunteer leadership, wellness initiatives, and community service. She served for nine years as President of the Common Fence Point Improvement Association, helping lead a $1 million capital campaign to build the Common Fence Point Arts, Wellness & Community Center—a welcoming gathering place for residents of all ages. She has also served as Vice Chair of the Aquidneck Land Trust, a board member of the Newport County YMCA, and currently serves on the John E. Fogarty Foundation Board supporting people in RI with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Most recently, she was elected to the Board of Directors of the Portsmouth Multi-Purpose Senior Center.

After earning engineering degrees from Rice University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, Conley discovered that her greatest passion wasn't engineering systems—it was helping people and organizations reach their potential. For more than twenty years, she has worked as a leadership consultant and executive coach, helping leaders and organizations communicate more effectively, build stronger teams, and lead with integrity. She also owns a local Pilates and wellness studio, where she promotes health, connection, and lifelong wellness through fitness and community programming.

Conley believes local government works best when people listen to one another, solve problems collaboratively, and focus on what unites a community. She is committed to supporting thoughtful, compassionate leadership that strengthens our schools, protects our environment, and helps ensure Portsmouth remains a welcoming place where everyone can thrive.
