Why I'm Running

I’m running for Portsmouth Town Council because I care deeply about this community and believe I can bring useful experience, sound judgment, and a practical approach back to the Council.  See my resume here.

I’ve served on the Council before, and I know that local government works best when people do their homework, listen to residents, plan ahead, and work together.

During my previous service, the Council made important progress. We improved financial reporting and long-term capital planning, used zero-based budgeting, reviewed the condition of Town-owned properties, strengthened emergency preparedness, addressed road safety, expanded recreation programs, regulated short-term rentals, worked closely with our schools, and partnered with community organizations such as the library and senior center.

We also secured a $339,000 state grant for climate-resiliency work and worked with state officials on issues such as East Main Road safety and Portsmouth’s legislative priorities.

I’m proud of that record, but I’m running because there is still plenty of work to do.

My Priorities

If elected, I will focus on keeping Portsmouth a great place to live while respecting what residents can afford.

That means:

  • Protecting strong public schools and essential Town services.

  • Keeping taxes as affordable as possible through careful budgeting and long-term planning.

  • Addressing deferred maintenance before small problems become expensive ones.

  • Improving road safety for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists.

  • Strengthening climate resiliency, particularly in vulnerable areas such as Island Park and Common Fence Point.

  • Improving Town technology and online services.

  • Protecting Portsmouth’s character while planning responsibly for the future.

I also think the way the Council conducts itself matters. People can disagree without turning every disagreement into a fight. Residents deserve Council members who listen, ask questions, treat people respectfully, and make decisions based on facts.

I’ve done this job before. I know how Town government works, and I know that progress usually comes from preparation, cooperation, and persistence rather than political theater.

I’m asking for your vote in 2026 so I can put that experience back to work for Portsmouth.
